Make Gold with Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing can be a little more risky to make gold with, but profitable nonetheless. The primary sources of gold will be blacksmithing level 80 epics, but you can also create rods and Eternal Belt Buckles. It's best to have a character that is a miner if you are a blacksmith or else it is very expensive to level.

The level 80 epics that you learn to craft from the trainer like the Spiked Titansteel Helm and Brilliant Titansteel Treads have become very cheap, and they don't sell very well. On my server if you craft and sell these items in the auction house you will only get about 50g profit unless you have gathered all of the materials yourself.

You can still make a lot of gold from the item level 226, 245 and 264 epics. For example Sunforged Breastplate sells for 4800g on my realm. To buy all of the materials to craft the breastplate from the auction house would cost 2550g, which means you make 2250 gold from a single sale. Imagine the huge amount of gold you would get from having multiple rare recipes, and gathering most of the materials yourself.

Eternal Belt Buckles can be sold in the auction house to make a bit of gold, although not a lot. These items do sell quickly as there is always demand for them as players get new gear, but there is a lot of competition. On my realm they sell for around 25-35g. Titanium Weapon Chains are also a nice way to bring in some extra gold.

Enchanters need to buy rods that only a blacksmith can make to craft their own enchanting rods. These rods don't sell for a lot of gold but are cheap to make. Some high level blacksmiths don't think it's worth their time, which means less competition for you. The highest level rod is the Titanium Rod, but sometimes lower level rods sell for even more because of less players crafting them. Check the auction house to see whether you should be making these rods.
